…along the bank of the Ganga, in the foothills of the Himalayas in between Rishikesh and Haridwar in Uttarakhand, India

In this Two Week Sukṣma Vyāyām and Ayurveda Theory Residential Course you will learn Classical Ayurveda with Alaknanda Puri. Ayurvedic Medical Science was passed down to us through generations over thousands of years of oral tradition, before finally being recorded in written form. It explains a holistic way of living a healthy life, a balance within one’s physical, social, mental and spiritual being. Approaching health holistically, from the physical, mental, social-emotional, and spiritual perspectives, Ayurvedic lifestyle and treatments bring health to the unhealthy and maintain that of the healthy and thus enabling one to attain their purpose in life. The basic knowledge of Ayurvedic principles helps us to understand our individual nature as well as that of the universe, to realize the connection between the microcosm within ourselves and the macrocosm of the universe, ultimately leading to optimal health and happiness.

NOTE: However course is part of the Yoga Teacher Training Program Curriculum, general guests not enrolled in the YTT may also participate.

Sukṣma Vyāyām, also known as Himalayan Yoga, is a unique system of subtle exercises, which energizes the body and harmonizes the mind.

  • Concentration and Focus
  • Prāṇayama (Breath Expansion Techniques)
  • Isolated Physical Movements
  • Heightened Awareness

This practice no doubt makes the body strong, increases one’s stamina, and makes each and every part and every organ healthy, filling it with vigor and vitality.

As prāṇa is the connection between the gross body and subtle mind, these exercises make the mind calmer, focused, strong and determined.
